On the banks of the Clyde River 8 kilometers west of Batemans Bay on the Canberra road, Nelligen makes a good place to stop to refresh yourself on your way to the South Coast of NSW.
The park-like surrounds and beautiful shade trees of Nelligen beckon you to picnic on the lawn by the wharf.
Opposite the wharf you will find Benny's Nelligen Store where you can purchase take away food including scrumptious seafood baskets and genuine "aussie" hamburgers.
Benny's Nelligen Store also carries all the goods that you would expect of a classic country store, so you can stock up on groceries, outboard fuel, port-a-gas and ice.
Benny is the local tourist information centre and newsagency. If you have arrived at Nelligen by houseboat, speed boat or river boat Benny will even fill your drinks orders ($40 minimum) from the local Pub, so you don't have to walk up and back to make your bottle shop purchases.
Other places to dine include the Cafe Nelligen and the historic Steam Packet Hotel. The hotel is popular with locals and travellers and you will get a true glimpse of the typical Australian Country Pub complete with beer garden and live entertainment on occasions.
For the lover of cultural pursuits try the Chapel on the Clyde Art and Craft gallery and the Nelligen Art Gallery Bed & Breakfast where you can also sample award winning South Coast pure organic honey.
